To obtain a real estate license in Illinois, you must successfully complete an approved (by the Illinois Department of  Financial and Professional Regulation - IDPR Department of Financial and Professional Regulation - DPR ) Illinois Real Estate License Class.

To get an Illinois real estate salesperson license:
        You must:
            be 21 years old (there is an exception for those that have 2 years of college (4 semesters of college credit)
                        and be at least 18 years old
            have a high school degree
            have a social security number
            take a 45 hour Illinois Real Estate License Class from an DPR approved school
            pass the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Exam
            cannot be delinquent in payments to the Illinois Department of Revenue; delinquent on an
                        Illinois Student Loan; more than 30 days delinquent in child support

 To get an Illinois real estate broker license:
    You must:
            be 21 years old
            have a high school degree
            have a social security number
            take 120 hours of  Illinois Real Estate License Classes from an DPR approved school (the salesperson
                            course counts as 45 hours toward the 120 hours
            pass the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson Exam can not be delinquent in payments to the Illinois Department of Revenue; 
                            delinquent on an Illinois Student Loan; more than 30 days delinquent in child support

The broker classes consist of five 15 hour classes

The Illinois Real Estate License Class can be taken by home-study (Salesperson)

Home study can be started at any time. The class must be completed within 6 months of your enrollment date. The $274 fee includes a syllabus, a booklet of lecture notes (the same booklet used in the classroom) and the text Illinois Real Estate Principles and Practices, 3rd Edition by Tim Rice.

After studying the material, you call the school to set up a final exam. You must pass a final exam with a minimum passing score of 75%. You will
have 3 opportunities to pass the exam. You will be give access to a web site with additional study aids. Failing 3 finals requires you to then sit for the course.

The Illinois Real Estate License Class can be taken by home-study (Broker)

Home study can be started at any time. Each class must be completed within 6 months of your enrollment date for that class. You will receive a syllabus, a booklet of lecture notes (the same booklet used in the classroom) and you must purchase the main text Illinois Real Estate Principles and Practices by Tim Rice. We sell it for $35 (tax included) with your course. You use the same text for all 5 classes. In other words, unless you have the text from another source, your first class will run you $144 ($109 plus the $35 text). Each course after that will be $109.

Sign up for all 5 broker classes at the same time for  $495 and save $50 (that makes the tuition fee $99 each class).

Realize that if you are enrolled in more than one broker course at the same time, only one exam can be taken each day.
